slayshTank Rider Bri Chmel on Professional Kiteboarding

Bri on the cover of Kiteboarder

I got into the sport of kiteboarding when I was about 14 years old.  The minute I got out of high school I moved to Oregon and then Mexico to pursue the sport.  A year later I was entering and doing well in contests.  My largest accomplishments in kiteboarding were winning numerous contests in America, getting the first cover of a magazine for a female kiteboarder in the history of the sport (The Kiteboarder Magazine) and also being one of the top marketed females in the sport. The best thing about kiteboarding is traveling around to exotic tropical destinations around the world- and then hanging out and riding with friends once you are there.  Kiteboarding is a sport with minimal gear, in which you don’t need a boat, a chairlift, or anything motorized to power you.  You can kiteboard anywhere in the world, anytime you want, as long as there is wind- it is really a sport that brings you freedom! -Rider Bri Chmel
