FOURTH ANNUAL NWWSA OPEN JULY 27-29, 2012Lake Tye – Monroe, Washington

BELLEVUE, Washington – January 10, 2012.  NW Wakesurf Association (“NWWSA”) announces the Fourth Annual NWWSA Open Competition, to be held July 27-29, 2012, on Lake Tye, located in the City of Monroe, Washington.

The weekend event kicks off on Friday with practice runs for registered competitors behind two 2012 Centurion Enzo SV24X boats, the official competition boats provided by our exclusive towboat sponsor, Centurion Boats.  The tournament will take place all day Saturday and Sunday, concluding with the awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon at Lake Tye Park.  There will be a number of other events earlier in the week and throughout the weekend, including the NW Watersports wakesurf clinic on Lake Sammamish, a no-host social on Friday night and the annual NWWSA barbeque at the beautiful Lake Sammamish home of Inland Surfer founders Jeff and Deb Page.

While the competition historically has been on Lake Sammamish, the competition this year will take place on Lake Tye.  The new venue is a man-made lake in the City of Monroe, Washington, located approximately thirty-five minutes northeast of Seattle, Washington. The 3,000 foot lake is not open to any other boat traffic and was one of the stops of the 2011 MasterCraft Pro-Wakeboard Tour.  “Holding the tournament on Lake Tye this year will almost guarantee ideal water conditions for each competitor,” says Len Nahajski, President of the NWWSA.

The tournament is expected to be limited again this year to 75 competitors.  In past years there have also been upward of 400 in-person spectators and even more online viewers watching the live internet video feed on Wake9.com, making this a widely-viewed wakesurf event every year.  2012 brings the anticipation of even more top professional riders from around the world, in addition to the increasingly skilled and competitive amateur divisions.

As recently announced by Centurion Boats, the NWWSA Open is one of four qualifying wakesurfing competitions leading up to the Centurion Wake Surfing Championship scheduled for September in Parker, Arizona.

Online registration for the NWWSA Open will start March 1, 2012 at www.nwwsa.org.  Clinic and other relevant information about the venue and competition will be posted as well.

It is expected the tournament will fill up quickly, so all interested riders are strongly encouraged to register early.  For additional questions about the tournament, sponsorship opportunities and membership, contact the NWWSA via email at info@nwwsa.org.
