The History of Wakesurfing: A Two Part Documentary Series
Wakesurfing has earned its wings as a legitimate watersport and now looks to shape the future of the inboard boating industry and breed a new flavor of inland surf culture. The sport has been around for decades but only recent development in boat and board design has allowed the progression of the sport to reach new heights. Check out the first video from 2007 featuring Shred Stixx Founder and wakesurfing pioneer Jerry Price telling the story of how he came to surf behind the boat start the original wakesurf company on the Delta at Discovery Bay. Although many think it started in 1999 when Price founded the original wakesurf company, it really began in Dogtown in the early 1960′s.
Our second video was shot last year and features a closer look at where the sport began and where its headed with a cameo from the TANK and how we prefer to push fresh progression.
“This film is my perspective of how Wakesurfing became what it is today. I have watched it grow since I was born in 1978, and I was there when Centurion Boats decided to get involved in the mid 90′s. Now its a full blown professional sport with contests around the world and amazing riding that pushes further every day. Everyone is Wake Surfing these days.” – Duncan Lee, Centurion Boats R&D
